My blog details my lifelong dream to drive Route 66 (aka The Mother Road) with my family in tow during the celebration of the 90th anniversary of the highway’s existence (November 11, 1926).

Some Route 66 Road Trip highlights:
My family and I recently completed an 18 day cross country trek across America on the iconic Route 66 (aka The Mother Road) traveling 3,495 miles by car from Chicago, Illinois to Santa Monica, California. Highlights of the trip included sleeping in a wigwam in Holbrook, Arizona, listening to legendary blues man Buddy Guy take the stage in Chicago, walking across the Chain of Rocks Bridge (crossing the Mississippi River from Illinois to Missouri), photographing iconic Route 66 images such as the Gemini Astronaut in Wilmington, Illinois, the U Drop Inn in Shamrock, Texas and Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo, Texas, just to name a few. We explored the Grand Canyon for two days, lunched where the 40s and 50s movie stars partied at the El Rancho Hotel in Gallup, New Mexico, 'stood on the corner' in Winslow, Arizona, visited a real life ghost town in Oatman, Arizona and slept in the Clark Gable room at the Boots Court Motel Lodge in Carthage, Missouri. Did I mention we had drinks at Vernon's Black Diamond Speakeasy Lounge in Albuquerque, New Mexico where the cast of Breaking Bad regularly hung out after shooting the popular TV series. I have a complete 18 day itinerary of what we experienced over 18 days in 8 different states and 12 different motels including hundreds of one-of-kind photos documenting our journey. During my journey, I interviewed approximately 10-12 people currently 'living the life' on Route 66. I also attached a couple of photos for you to view. This was truly a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, so grateful to have shared this experience with my wife and daughter!

BTW - This year Route 66 celebrates it's 90th birthday which was the reason for our trip across America!
