Scott Kern is a professional travel writer/photographer residing in Moorestown, New Jersey since 1995.
His work continues to be inspired by countless trips across America and beyond our shores attempting to capture the feeling and emotion of the places he’s had the pleasure of visiting.
Into his mid-50s…..he finds himself a modern day disciple of the mantra - “Experiences over Stuff”.
Both his writing and photography are influenced by his love of modern music, nature and ‘getting lost in the outdoors’ specifically enjoying personal interests such as hiking, road biking, skiing and surfing. His true passion is exploring new locales around the globe, writing what he feels and photographing what he sees. When his journeys bring him to new lands engaging foreign people, he loves to try new experiences that allow him to ‘live like the locals”. He then writes and photographs about these very personal experiences for the folks back home in New Jersey.
When searching the Web for the off-the-beaten-track experiences, he is constantly looking for activities that he can write about that will truly enrich his readers’ perception of these beautiful places; local or foreign. He’s looking for people and stories that he can transform into words and photos that will allow a stranger to read about his unique experiences, view his photos and then book airline tickets to visit this destination and live out some of his experiences and in the process, claiming them for their own.
Remember, maps and GPS navigation systems are merely tools to get you where you want to go. On the open road, following your heart and your inner compass will often transform the finite journey into an infinite (and lasting) memory!
In the end, it’s more about the stories and photos that will live on forever as deep and personal memories versus bringing home another t-shirt that will eventually fade over time.
And when in doubt…..always take the scenic route!

Scott Kern also owns and operates a photography business formed in August 2012 called S&J Photography. S&J Photography specializes in supplying unique photographic images of landscapes, cityscapes, destination/travel images to commercial clients. S&J Photography provides these one-of-a-kind photographic images for businesses involved in beautification projects either through the renovation of existing office space or the construction of new office buildings.
Over the last four years, I have provided the esteemed Rothman Institute, a Delaware Valley leader in orthopaedic care with (27) images for seven different projects at six different office locations. An additional (10) of my images were purchased by AtlantiCare as part of their "Healing Through Arts" program. I also have (3) images hanging in the J. Caleb Boggs, Federal United States Courthouse in Wilmington, Delaware.
