French Riviera Part 2 - Nice, France Nicest day yet! Late September temps in the 70s. Finally getting to wear the shorts I packed in my suitcase from back home. The cool and overcast days of Paris have given way to the pleasantly warm temps here in the South of France’s city of Nice located a mere 25 minutes south of Monaco. In the morning, Lauren and I walked the iconic Promenade des Anglais known as “La Prom” by the locals. A stunning palm tree lined nearly 4 mile cement pathway along the Mediterranean Sea. Today, we witnessed the weekend conclusion of a long distance running event so Nice typically laidback and casual was buzzing with fitness activity. I cannot lie, I was extremely jealous of the morning cycling enthusiasts pedaling along the nearly waveless azure colored ocean. Maybe next time? We walked around Vieux Nice (aka Old Nice) known for its narrow cobblestone streets, colorful buildings, and vibrant atmosphere. We explored the Cours Saleya market admiring the fresh produce and flowers amidst the hidden courtyards and lightly colored pastel buildings enjoying buttery warm morning croissants. Next,we enjoyed perfectly crafted cocktails at Le Plongeoir. Famous bar and restaurant built into the rock in the ocean. Unique Nice restaurant has embodied the spirit of the Nice locals since 1941. Meet ‘cha at The Rock. Late afternoon, Lauren and I enjoyed a two-hour jeep tour and wine tasting experience high up in the hills of Mont Boron above Villefranche-Sur-Mer. We were told Elton John is the small village’s most famous residence. Sadly, no sightings of the Rocket Man today. Watching the muted orange and pink sunset while enjoying local wines was a special experience, for sure. Bustling Paris has surrendered to peaceful Nice. As with most travelers, Lauren and I are finally starting to feel our pulse slow as we stop and smell the beauty of Cote d’ Azur. In the evening, we dined at Chantecler located within the iconic Le Negresco (Hotel) on La Prom. Tonight, dad and daughter joined the dressed-to-the-nines crowd at the Michelin starred restaurant. Gentlemen - Jacket and tie required. Seated next to the piano player, we enjoyed a nearly three hour culinary journey of tastes, smells (and sounds) second to none. What a way to conclude our last night in France. To paraphrase The Bear (TV series) - Thank you, chef! Until next time, look for Lauren and I sitting in our iconic blue beach chairs on the pebble (stone) beach. Tomorrow, we head to Luxembourg City. A small quaint capital city exuding Old World charm since 963. Not a typo! 9/28/25 Dad and Daughter Nice, France #liveyourdash
