Day 2
Biking the Eastern Shore - Day 2.
Recovery day cycling ‘reverse’ fishing hook: St. Michaels > Tilghman Island ~ 32 miles. Locals only highlights included: Two If By Sea, TI Country Store, Chesapeake Landing (lunch) and Justine’s (ice cream) back at St. Michaels.
Met wonderful couple (cyclists) in their late 60s from Colorado, small town south of Denver. On island to care for ‘mom’ over the next three weeks. Traded cycling stories/routes traveled across the US. Woman graduated Glassboro State College back in the day.
Love swapping stories with cycling enthusiasts!
Amazing weekend! Need to return next summer with Marie - The Crab Queen!
Next stop - S&M heading north for some fall Leaf Peeping! #liveyourdash
Day 1
While not another new destination traveled in 2022, it's easily been 25 years since our last trip down here enjoying Maryland's Eastern Shore.
Literally and figuratively, I'm back on the bike with my buddy Tom, enjoying seafood, bay views and scenic cycling trails along Easton, Oxford, Tilghman Island and of course, St. Michaels.
Biking the Eastern Shore Weekend - Day 1. Epic 40 mile ride including Oxford/Bellevue Ferry service. Amazing seafood, strolling along Talbot Street, Inn at Perry Cabin (featured in Wedding Crashers movie). Enjoyed “locals only” favorites: Smith Island Cake, Harrison’s Harbour Lights Restaurant (100 year old family business), The Crab Claw (est. 1965), Doc’s Sunset Grille, Oxford.
“Standing in a tidal pool just east of Baltimore. Watching little blue crabs navigate the eastern shore. Every bayou stream and river (and me) in time runs to the sea." ~ Beautiful Swimmers (JB)
