Munich Day #2 / BavariaOn our last day in Germany, we headed south from Munich to the Bavarian Alps very close to the Austrian border. Taking trains from Munich > Buchloe > Fussen. Fussen is part of the tourist route known as the Romantic Road. The town was settled in 1294.While at Fussen, we explored by foot the Neuschwanstein Castle (built 1869) and Hohenschwangau Castle (built 1837). The former castle is said to be the inspiration Walt Disney used to create Cinderella’s Castle in Disney World.Yes it was cold in the Alps. Elevation ~ 3200 feet.In the afternoon, we returned back to Munich to explore the iconic Marienplatz (Plaza) containing some structures dating back to 1158.
