Is this Xfinity Mobile Arena before a Flyers or Phillies game? Nope. We’re pregaming with Gaelic football fans of teams Kerry (Green & Gold) and Cork (Red) at Scotts Hotel, Killarney before the Championship match on the pitch at Fitzgerald Stadium. All fans then walked ~ 1/2 mile to/from the stadium.
Off day….we enjoyed Gaelic Football match: Kerry The Kingdom v. Cork Rebels as well as a (pre and post game) Pub Crawl through the streets and alleyways of Killarney.
The sport is part soccer, basketball, rugby and football featuring 15 players per side who use both hands and feet to pass, carry and score by kicking or punching the ball into a net (3 points) or over a crossbar (1 point).
Gaelic football is one of the few remaining strictly amateur sports in the world, with players, coaches, and managers prohibited from receiving any form of payment. Gaelic football is mainly played on the island of Ireland, although units of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) exist in Great Britain, mainland Europe, North America, Africa, Asia and Oceania.
We enjoyed a unique ‘sporting event’ experience of interacting with fans of both teams before and after the match. Walking to and from Fitzgerald Stadium (game time capacity ~ 32k) then partying with fans of both teams in the Killarney pubs afterwards.

Irish links, course #4. Ballybunion Golf Club (Old course) established 1893. Website: By the mid-1970s, there was a growing trickle of well-read international visitors that overnight turned into a flood in 1982 when Tom Watson made his famous off-the-cuff eulogy after accepting the Claret Jug at Royal Troon: “Nobody can call himself a golfer until he has played at Ballybunion; you would think the game originated there!” The “Full Irish Breakfast” our caddies, the weather and the course made for a fantastic day of links golf. Golf day #4 is in the books. Time for some pizza and Guinness. Followed by live music at Tattler Jack. Owner and former Kerry Gaelic footballer. Who can ‘split the G’ tonight?
Irish links, course #5. Last round and last Guinness. Final round at Dooks Golf Course. Dooks was established 1889, making it one of the ten oldest golf clubs in Ireland. Course is located in County Kerry on the shores of Dingle Bay. Evening concluded with Killarney Pub Crawl. Heading back to the States tomorrow. Ireland golf ✅ #liveyourdash #cherokee5
